Do Work That Matters, With People Who Do It Well.
The Harris Firm LLC is a growing Alabama family law, divorce, and probate firm with offices in Birmingham, Chelsea, Huntsville, and Montgomery. We are always interested in meeting talented attorneys and staff who want to build a career helping Alabama families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Eight attorneys. Four offices. One focus: family law, divorce, and probate for families across Alabama. If that sounds like a practice you want to be part of, we would like to hear from you — even if we are not actively advertising an opening.
In short: The Harris Firm LLC hires attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals, and receptionist and intake staff for its Birmingham, Chelsea, Huntsville, and Montgomery offices.
What the work looks like: A steady, focused caseload in family law, divorce, and probate — real client contact, real courtroom time for attorneys, and a firm that has systemized the routine work so people can focus on what actually requires judgment.
Who does well here: People who communicate clearly, treat clients with patience on their worst days, and take ownership of their files. Experience in family law or probate helps; character matters more.
How to apply: Send a resume and a short cover note telling us which office and role interest you. We read everything that comes in, and we respond.
A Growing Firm With a Clear Identity
The Harris Firm LLC started in Birmingham and grew the old-fashioned way: by doing good work at a fair price until word got around. Today the firm’s family law, divorce, and probate practice serves clients statewide, with a strong flat-fee uncontested divorce practice that keeps every office busy.
That matters for your career for a simple reason: our attorneys and staff are not spending their days hunting for work. The firm’s marketing brings the clients; your job is to take excellent care of them.
Who We Hire
Why People Stay at The Harris Firm LLC
Law firm job listings all promise the same things. Here is what our people would actually tell you.
Real Cases From Day One
Attorneys here carry their own files, meet their own clients, and stand up in court. You will not spend two years reviewing documents in a back room.
A System That Works
Flat-fee services, documented procedures, and steady client flow mean the work is demanding but predictable. You know what a good week looks like here.
Mentorship, Not Sink-or-Swim
Newer attorneys work alongside lawyers who have handled these cases for years, in offices small enough that asking a question means walking down the hall.
Work That Actually Helps People
Divorce, custody, probate — clients come to us at low points and leave with their lives in better order. Few practice areas let you see the difference you made that clearly.
How to Apply
Email your resume and a short cover note to stevenharris@theharrisfirmllc.com. Tell us which role interests you, which office you would want to work from — Birmingham, Chelsea, Huntsville, or Montgomery — and, in a sentence or two, why this kind of work appeals to you.
We accept applications on a rolling basis. Even when no position is posted, strong candidates are kept on file and contacted first when a seat opens — that is how several of our current team members were hired.
Careers — Frequently Asked Questions
1.Is The Harris Firm LLC hiring right now?
We accept applications on a rolling basis for all four offices. Openings come and go, but strong resumes are kept on file and we reach out first to candidates who have already introduced themselves when a position opens.
2.Do attorneys need family law experience to apply?
No. You need an Alabama law license and a real interest in this work. Experienced family law and probate attorneys are always of interest, but we have trained newer lawyers into excellent practitioners and will do it again.
3.Which offices can I work from?
Birmingham, Chelsea, Huntsville, or Montgomery. Tell us your preference when you apply; most roles are based primarily in one office and serve that office’s region.
4.What is compensation like?
Compensation depends on the role and experience, and we discuss it candidly in the first interview rather than making you guess. Attorney compensation includes performance-based bonus opportunities.
5.What is the interview process?
Straightforward: a phone conversation first, then an in-person meeting at the office you would join. We are evaluating judgment, communication, and fit — and giving you an honest look at the work so you can evaluate us too.
6.I applied before and did not hear back. Should I apply again?
Yes. Needs change as the firm grows, and a resume that was not a match a year ago may be exactly what an office needs now. A short note mentioning your earlier application helps us connect the dots.
