Current Opening: Associate Attorney – Family Law & Probate (Chelsea, AL)
Full-time · Chelsea, Alabama (Shelby County) · $70,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience
We are looking for a motivated associate attorney to join our Chelsea office, working directly with the firm’s owner and training alongside our senior attorneys. This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who wants courtroom experience early, a varied caseload, and a clear runway to grow with the firm as we expand our presence in the Shelby County area.
What You Will Do
You will begin with a full caseload of the firm’s collections matters — judgment enforcement, garnishments, and related litigation — while building your family law and probate practice. From day one you will handle the collections docket including filings, garnishments, hearings, and settlement negotiations; conduct phone consultations with prospective family law and probate clients statewide plus in-person consultations in the Shelby County area; work directly with the firm’s owner on estate planning matters such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, along with probate of estate administrations; manage your own family law and probate cases as your docket develops, including court appearances; and draft pleadings, deeds, estate planning documents, and correspondence.
The position is based in our Chelsea office but serves clients across the state, so some travel to courts and our other offices is involved.
Who We Are Looking For
You must be licensed and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar. We are targeting attorneys with zero to five years of experience — new admittees with strong drive are encouraged to apply. Experience in family law, probate, collections, or civil litigation is a plus, but we will train the right candidate. You should be comfortable talking with potential clients by phone and in person, organized enough to manage a high-volume caseload, and collaborative — you will work closely with attorneys and staff in all four offices. Compensation and Benefits
Salary of $70,000 to $85,000 commensurate with experience, plus health insurance, a dental plan, retirement plan options, paid time off, paid sick leave, and paid holidays. You will receive mentorship and hands-on training with the firm’s owner and senior attorneys — training on probate, estate planning, and collections directly with the owner, and on family law litigation with the firm’s senior litigators.
