Mass Tort Claims
Used Depo-Provera and Diagnosed With a Meningioma? You May Have a Claim.
Research has linked long-term use of the Depo-Provera birth control shot to meningioma, a tumor that grows in the tissue surrounding the brain. The Harris Firm LLC is accepting these claims across Alabama — the consultation is free, sign-up is handled by phone and email, and there is no attorney fee unless there is a recovery.
If you received Depo-Provera injections and were later diagnosed with a meningioma, a five-minute phone call will tell you whether you qualify. Free consultation. No fee unless you recover. Deadlines apply.
In short: Women who used the Depo-Provera contraceptive injection long-term and were later diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor are filing claims against the manufacturer. The Harris Firm LLC is accepting these cases statewide.
The science: A large 2024 study published in the BMJ found that prolonged use of medroxyprogesterone acetate — the active drug in Depo-Provera — was associated with a significantly increased risk of intracranial meningioma. Lawsuits allege the manufacturer knew of the risk and failed to warn American patients.
Who typically qualifies: Women who received Depo-Provera or its authorized generic for roughly a year or more — generally two or more injections — and were later diagnosed with a meningioma. The consultation confirms whether your history fits.
Act now: These claims are proceeding in coordinated national litigation, and filing deadlines depend on your diagnosis date and state law. Waiting can quietly end a valid claim.
What Depo-Provera Is — and What the Lawsuits Allege
Depo-Provera is a birth control shot given every three months, used by millions of American women since the 1990s. Its active ingredient is medroxyprogesterone acetate, a synthetic progestin. For many women it was the most convenient contraceptive available — no daily pill, no device, just four injections a year at a clinic.
In March 2024, researchers published a large case-control study in the BMJ finding that women who used medroxyprogesterone acetate for a year or more faced a materially higher risk of developing intracranial meningioma — a tumor of the membranes surrounding the brain. Meningiomas are usually non-cancerous, but that word undersells them: they can compress brain tissue and nerves, cause vision loss, hearing loss, seizures, and memory problems, and often require brain surgery or radiation to treat.
The lawsuits allege the manufacturer knew or should have known about this risk and failed to warn women and their doctors in the United States — even as warnings appeared on labels in other countries. Those claims are now proceeding in coordinated federal litigation, where cases from across the country are consolidated before one court for efficient pretrial handling.
Who Can Bring a Depo-Provera Claim

Every litigation has its own qualifying criteria, and they can shift as the cases develop. As of now, the strongest Depo-Provera claims generally involve both of the following:
1. Meaningful use. You received Depo-Provera (or its authorized generic) injections for roughly a year or more — typically two or more shots. Longer use tends to mean a stronger claim. Pharmacy records, clinic records, or health department records can usually prove this even if it was decades ago.
2. A meningioma diagnosis. You were diagnosed with an intracranial meningioma — whether or not it required surgery. Women who underwent craniotomy or radiation generally have the highest-value claims, but a monitored, untreated meningioma can still qualify.
Not sure your records still exist? That is our job, not yours. Alabama clinics and pharmacies keep records longer than most people expect, and we know how to get them.
Compensation in Depo-Provera Cases
A meningioma is not a paperwork problem — it is brain surgery, radiation, MRIs every six months, missed work, and fear. Compensation in these claims can account for medical expenses past and future, lost income, and the pain, suffering, and disruption the tumor caused. Cases involving surgery, permanent deficits, or recurring tumors are valued accordingly.
No lawyer can honestly promise you a number, and we will not. What we can promise is that your claim will be documented thoroughly and valued on your injuries — not rushed into somebody’s settlement average.

Depo-Provera Claims — Frequently Asked Questions
1.What does it cost to pursue a Depo-Provera claim?
Nothing up front. The consultation is free, and the case is handled on a contingency fee — the attorney fee is a percentage of any recovery. If there is no recovery, you owe no attorney fee.
2.My meningioma was benign. Do I still have a claim?
Very possibly. Most meningiomas are technically benign, but that does not make them harmless — many require brain surgery or radiation, and even monitored tumors carry real medical and emotional costs. Benign meningioma diagnoses are the core of this litigation.
3.I got my shots twenty years ago. Is it too late?
Not necessarily. What usually matters most is when you were diagnosed with the meningioma and when you learned it might be connected to Depo-Provera — not when you took the shots. Deadlines are fact-specific, so call before assuming you are out of time.
4.What if I cannot find my injection records?
Leave that to us. Clinics, pharmacies, health departments, and insurers keep records longer than most people realize, and obtaining them is part of what we do on every one of these cases. Start with what you remember — where you got the shots and roughly when.
5.Will I have to go to court?
Almost certainly not. These claims proceed in coordinated national litigation and are handled through records and filings. Most clients complete their entire case by phone, email, and electronic signature without ever appearing anywhere.
6.Who will actually handle my case?
The Harris Firm LLC. We evaluate your claim, sign you up, gather your records, and stay your firm throughout — and we work alongside experienced national trial co-counsel who help lead this litigation, with every arrangement disclosed to you and agreed in writing at no added cost.
